If you're independent and innovative and your field of specialty revolves around the mobile industry, the 2009 Global Mobile Awards in Barcelona, Spain just might be your meal ticket for global and mobile recognition.
The GSMA's Global Mobile Awards gives a platform for independent mobile companies so that they can gain recognition for their work. The GSM Association (GSMA) is the global trade that represents more than 750 GSM mobile operators across 218 countries and territories worldwide. There are over three billion GSM and 3GSM connections which is 86% of the world's mobile phone connections.
"In a challenging global economic environment, the mobile industry continues to innovate and surprise," said Rob Conway, CEO and board member of the GSMA. "These awards recognise the talent and diversity that exists around the world and encourage every player to excel."
Several new categories have been added to this year's awards which include the following: The Green Mobile Award which highlights eco-friendly mobile products, services and initiatives, Best Mobile Internet, Best Mobile TV Service and Best Mobile Money Service. The categories of Mobile Entertainment, Mobile Services, and Best Mobile Handset have already been established as desirable awards for any new product or service.
The GSMA's commitment to innovation is supported by the Mobile Innovation Market community which created the Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition. On February 16, the top 15 innovators will present their ideas in front of the Mobile Innovation Marketplace audience and a panel of judges. From the five category winners to be named that day only two will emerge as global finalists and they will compete against the other global finalists.
