Adobe Announces the Coming of CS4

Announced on Sept. 23, the software is the latest in the popular line of products which, while expensive, is among the best software packages for artists of all disciplines. However, with the prohibitive price tag and the fact that CS3 was released a mere year and a half ago, potential buyers might be wondering what incentive they have to purchase the package.
Well, with 13 applications comprising the complete package, there are a lot of changes, only some of which can be detailed here. However, we'll list some of the more enticing improvements here for a few of the CS4 applications so that you can decide which are the most promising.
Photoshop CS4Vista 64-bit support for PCs, enables manipulation of tremendously large files
Multi-layer scaling, allowing manipulations of objects to scale with the background
Smoother panning and zooming, as well as canvas rotation for better control
Flash CS4
3D manipulation of 2D objects using new translation coding
An improved motion editor, allowing better control of each frame
Linking objects using the "Bones" tool, allowing for inverse kinematics
Dreamweaver CS4
A new "Live" view, allowing creation of a web page while simulating real Internet functionality
Improved JavaScript functionality for Java versions including jQuery, Prototype, and Spry
HTML data sets for those unfamiliar with XML
Soundbooth CS4Multi-track support allowing the creation of audio files composed of several simultaneously clips
A new file format, ASND, compatible with other CS4 applications including Flash and After-Effects
Automatic volume correction allowing the matching of volumes of multiple clips to one another

The components of CS4 may be purchased individually, or the Creative Suite may be purchased in one of four packages. Three of them are Premium editions, Design, Web, or Production Premium, and range in price from an upgrade (CS3 to CS4) for ~$600 to a complete purchase for up to ~$1700.
For die-hard media pros out there, where only the complete Creative Suite 4 Master Suite will do, the cost of an upgrade is ~$900 and the price of a complete purchase is ~$2500.
These packages will all be available in English as of late October of this year, with French and Spanish versions due out in December.
