Harping About Harper, in Song!

If you browse the new Canadian website Mashline.com, you might hear something a little odd.
With a rhythm and blues beat, you will hear a female voice singing her praise for a specific someone who used to govern our country. The lyrics are as follows:
"You're good for our economy, prosperity for you and me, tax cuts and incentive forms, they make me warm. You're not that far to the right, you're right here at my side. You can Harper me tonight…"
You can guess who she's singing about, right? Of course it's our prime minister incumbent, Stephen Harper, who recently disbanded parliament in order to bring us an early election, and that's something to sing about.
The song entitled, "I've Got a Crush on Harper," has already been broadcast over the radio this past week and according to the Mashline.com spokespeople, it's about to get more attention.
Genevieve Desjardins, spokeswoman for Mashline.com and former deputy director of communications to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, feels that the song will appeal broadly to Internet goers.
"Sexy, funny, quirky, and classy, this premier mega hit will give Canadians a taste of how social media can impact Canadian politics," said Desjardins. "We're proud to promote the talented Canadian artists contributing to the project."
Mashline.com has formed a partnership with political social media giant BarelyPolitical.com The partnership of America's BarelyPolitical.com gave permission to Mashline to produce a Canadian version of the song, "Obama Girl."
Mashline.com is supposed to expand social awareness by showing a "mash-up" of traditional and social media networks.
Does this mean party leaders like Stephane Dion and Jack Layton will have an adoration song written about them as well? Perhaps a Dion duet with Celine? A Jumping Jack (Layton) Flash song and a platform about gas, gas, gas?
Time will soon tell.
"I've Got a Crush on Harper" is supposedly the first of many components that will be made to the public. For more political satire videos, visit BarelyPolical.com or keep an eye on Mashline for more viral content.
