Zero-Emissions Low-Speed Trucks Approved

Transport Canada recently announced that low-speed vehicles (LSVs) will now include low-speed electric trucks that are made by a company based in British Columbia.
Canadian Electric Vehicles Ltd. Will now be able to market and distribute its LSVs right across Canada. Low-speed trucks will only be used for specific needs such as grounds-keeping and landscaping. LSVs will also be used on industrial and institutional settings such as campuses and resorts where they can be controlled safely.
The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities believes the environment will benefit greatly from the electric LSVs.
"Low-speed vehicles are good for the environment, but their use should not compromise the safety of Canadians," said Cannon. "The Government of Canada supports cleaner transportation solutions that continue to provide the current high level of safety on out roads that Canadians expect and deserve."
Based in Errington, BC, Canadian Electric Vehicles Ltd. has received the rights to stamp the National Safety Mark to their might-E-truck. The mark will indicate that the LSV trucks have been certified and have met the regulatory standards so that the LSVs can be marketed across Canada.
Brian Jean, parliamentary secretary for Cannon believes that the marketing for the zero-emissions electric low-speed trucks in Canada is great news.
"These low-speed trucks are environmentally friendly and represent one more step in our government's ambitious environmental agenda," said Jean. "I encourage people to use these environmentally-friendly vehicles in controlled low-speed environments like campuses and retirements communities, where the risk of a collision with a faster and heavier motor vehicle is lower than on public roads."
