Toshiba's New Ultra-Portable Notebook Features A World's First

Toshiba of Canada Information Systems Group(Toshiba ISG)has announced the launch of its Portégé R500-SP209C featuring the world's first 128 gigabyte solid state drive.
"The SSD technology provides customers with an enhanced level of reliability, durability and system responsiveness and is the crowning achievement of the Portégé R500 series," said Jerome Kudera, Product Manager for Commercial Products for Toshiba of Canada. "We're proud to reveal that Toshiba of Canada has had zero reported failures in any solid state drives found in the R500-SP109C, which launched a year ago."
The newest model in the Portégé R500 series, also delivers unique attributes including: being the first notebook computer with a transreflective LED display letting the sun's light pass through and reflecting it out to bring the images on the display to life so users can switch the LED backlighting off while outdoors to decrease overall battery consumption; being the first notebook with 7mm DVD SuperMulti drive; having the longest battery operating times; having an EPEAT Gold-rating; and last, but not least, Energy Star 4.0 compliance.
Toshiba's latest technology sports a motherboard that is as little as one-third the size of a mainstream 15.4-inch notebook's motherboard, while still providing users the same functionality.
Extending far beyond standard notebook mobility and performance, the unit is available for the suggested list price of $3299.
