Studio Hybrid Announced by Dell

Earlier today Dell launched the Studio Hybrid, a new computer that continues Dell’s trend of trying to preserve the environment as a top priority.
With it’s compact size, the Hybrid not only aims to make a smaller footprint on the environment, but also takes up less space in the workplace or computer room where space is at a premium. The Hybrid can also be placed in either a horizontal or a vertical alignment depending on how much room you have and how you want to arrange your workplace.
“Our goal was to design a desktop that fits in the office or in the living room, or anywhere space is at a premium,” said Bill Tyrrell, consumer product marketing, Dell Canada. “We’ve created a desktop PC category that combines style, performance and a high degree of energy efficiency.”
The "environmentally conscious" description of the machine comes from the fact that the computer is roughly 80 per cent smaller than other PCs (which means less material to go into making the computer and recycling afterwards) and is Energy Star 4.0 compliant, making it draw up that much less power. Also, the packaging for the Hybrid is less wasteful, using 30 per cent less packaging materials and including 75 per cent less print documents (by weight), and also having packaging that is 95 per cent recyclable.
“The design and craftsmanship of the Studio Hybrid alone are enough to cause you to do a double take,” said Phil Bryant, vice president and general manager for Dell’s consumer sales in the Americas. “Combine that with the performance of this little beauty and its environmentally smart DNA, and you’ve got something truly unique – something that you can make your own.”
The Studio Hybrid comes with Windows Vista, up to 4 GB of DDR2 SDRAM, up to 320 GB of hard drive space, and seven interchangeable sleeve colours. In addition there are several features that the Hybrid can come with if requested, including Wi-Fi capabilities, wireless mouse and keyboard, Blu-Ray disc drive, and a TV tuner.
Starting at $529, the Dell’s Studio Hybrid can be found for purchase on www.dell.ca/hybrid today.
