Burn This: Samsung's Super WriteMaster SH-S223

Samsung Electronics Canada has devised the Super WriteMaster SH-S223, one of the fastest DVD burners on the market today allowing users to burn data at high speeds - even on low speed media.
Users can write at 22X speeds on 16X media and 12X speeds on 8X media. Since lower speed media is more cost-effective, money can be saved while burning discs at faster speeds - finally, a novel idea.
"As a global technology innovator, Samsung has always been at the forefront of optical disc drive technology and further pushes the technology envelope with the introduction of the new Super-WriteMaster SH-S223," said Ronald Hulse, Vice President Sales & Marketing, IT Division, Samsung Electronics Canada.
The SH-S223 drive provides super fast recording speeds across a wide range of different data media types including: 22X DVD±R recording, 12X DVD-RAM recording, 16X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 12X DVD-R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording. It enables consumers to burn 4.7GB on a DVD±R disc in approximately four minutes and 26 seconds - a six per cent increase in speed compared to a 20X DVD writer. It also takes less than 12 minutes to burn 4.7GB in DVD-RAM format, which is a 30 per cent increase in speed over a 20X DVD drive.
And if this wasn't enough, the SH-S223 also boasts a low-noise feature. The drive's aerodynamic frame design reduces air-borne noise by preventing pressure concentration and getting rid of that annoying "buzzing" sound.
The SH-S223 will be available through Samsung retailers in June 2008 at an MSRP of $89.00.
