While Windows users have been enjoying Microsoft Office 2007 for nearly a year, Mac users still have a month to go before the new Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac is released. In the meantime, Microsoft is offering a great deal on the current 2004 edition.
Buy any version – Standard ($599.95), Student and Teacher Edition ($199.95), or the Standard Edition Upgrade ($349.95) – and you’ll get Office 2008 Special Media Edition shipped to you when the software is released this January. Alternatively, you can opt for a free version of Office 2008 Home & Student Edition instead.
Office 2008 won’t affect your Office 2004 license, so you’re getting two software packages for the price of one, if not less. For example, purchase 2004 Student and Teacher for $200, get the 2008 Special Media Edition (valued at US$500) for free, and you’ll save about $300. Even if you already own a copy of Office 2004, the deal is seriously worth considering.
The Special Media Edition includes one license for business/personal use, Exchange Server support (necessary for automatic out-of-office email replies), additional Automator Actions and Microsoft Expression Media for Mac. The Home & Student Edition, while offering three licenses for home/non-commercial use, does not include Exchange Server or the Automator Actions.
To qualify, purchases must be made between November 1, 2007 and January 14, 2008. You will be required to pay $10 shipping and handling, plus tax. It will take six to eight weeks for delivery. There is no limit on the number of purchases you can make. For all the details, visit www.microsoft.com/mac .
