Affordable wireless laser mono printing

Brother just announced the first ever sub-$200 wireless mono laser printer.

Designed as a personal mono laser, the HL-2170W is the follow-up to the HL-2070N, a popular home / SOHO mono laser networked through Ethernet.

The fact that the HL-2170W allows for printing over an existing wireless network (802.11b/g) allows the printer to be positioned just about anywhere in the home or home office that receives a strong wireless, freeing desk space and eliminating some of the wire clutter. It can also connect via USB or Ethernet for desktop use.

The HL-2170W and the recently released wired and non-networked HL-2140 offer print speeds of up to 23 pages per minute (ppm) and a superior monochrome print quality via Brother’s HQ1200 resolution (up to 2400 x 600 dpi). Both printers also feature an enclosed lower paper tray that holds up to 250 sheets of paper and a manual feed slot for easily feeding envelopes and letterhead.
