Canon’s New Printers Sure to Please

Last week Canon Canada Inc. announced a pair of compact additions to their line of printers. These new models are small, portable and versatile, packing more power and potential than some printers twice the size.
The new SELPHY CP770 model is an interesting case, looking admittedly like something that would belong in a child’s playpen. The printer is shaped like a medium-sized water bucket, and comes in a variety of cute colours. The bucket-shaped case is made not only for housing the printer, but also paper, ink cartridges, and all other necessary accessories.
Mounted on the printer is a 2.5’’ high definition LCD monitor to view images before printing them off, a feature that would no doubt come in handy if there aren’t any computers nearby. Also, the printer features the “IrSimple” feature, which uses infrared technology to wirelessly send images to the printer from mobile phones, PDAs, and other devices.
The SELPHY CP760 is a similar model, but doesn’t feature the bucket design. It too has a 2.5’’ display, but the 760’s is a thin-film transistor (TFT) screen. This “ultra-compact” printer also features simplified card slots that will let users plug cards in straight from their camera or through USB adapters.
Canon hopes that these products will make great additions to family outings such as camping trips, trips to the cottage, or scrap-booking get-togethers.
"Canon wants to keep photography fun for the whole family by making it easier for children and adults to print out instant memories and share them with everyone," said Ian Macfarlane, Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon Canada Inc. "The fun design and ease of use helps make these printers the perfect gift for anyone who wants a new and convenient way to display and share their photographs."
The SELPHY CP770 will be available for $149.99, while the CP760 will be somewhat cheaper at $99.99.
