SanDisk\'s Sansa Fuze players

You may not think it but SanDisk is actually a leading retailer of digital audio players. This is thanks in part to the attractive price of its hardware and in part to an extensive retail network that includes many airport departure lounge locations.

The Fuze continues the trend of offering capable players with bargain prices. It goes on sale in April for $79.99 for the 2GB player States-side. The Canadian release date comes shortly thereafter in May. We're waiting on a confirmation of Canadian pricing. In the US, the 4GB will hit shelves for $99.99 and the 8GB player will go for $129.99.

What sets SanDisk's players apart is their upgradable storage. Via inexpensive microSD cards up to 8GB. SanDisk points out that this scheme represents a simple way of sharing your content between DAP, phone and PC.

In addition to playing music, video, photos, FM radio and audiobooks, the thin Sansa Fuze is packed with extras, including a microSD card slot to add and transport content with ease; a voice recorder to capture thoughts on the fly, and a bright, 1.9”color screen that allows users to easily navigate their music or watch videos in landscape mode.

The Sansa Fuze player will be available in an array of colors like pink, red, blue, black and silver.
The Sansa Fuze MP3 player gives users access to subscription download services from numerous sources, including Rhapsody To Go, Napster, eMusic and others. In addition, it supports playback of a wide range of popular music formats such as MP3, WAV, Audible (for audio books) and Windows Media Audio (WMA) in both unprotected and protected files. Sansa Fuze supports MPEG-4 video and JPEG photos. SanDisk claims the Fuze's internal rechargeable battery will play up to 24 hours of audio and five hours of video between charges.

The MP3 player works with computers running Windows XP or Windows Vista. It also works with Mac and Linux operating systems (under MSC mode).
