Dell and Microsoft team up with (PROJECT) RED


Dell and Microsft are teaming up to join in (PROJECT) RED, the brand / charity initiative whose raison d'etre is the battle against HIV/AIDS in Africa.

The fundamental concept of (PRODUCT) RED is to meld consumer brands with corporate giving; for every RED product sold, a portion of the proceeds are donated to the (PROJECT) RED "Global Fund." Money is then channeled to AIDS grants in Africa. With these grants, the Global Fund finances locally conceived and implemented AIDS awareness, prevention and care programs with funds allocated based on measurable results.

Dell and Microsoft join other heavy hitter brands like GAP (RED apparel), Apple (RED iPod line), Motorola (RED handsets and accessories) along with other names. So far, RED partners have generated $50 million for the Global Fund, the (PROJECT) RED home page says.

Dell and Microsoft's additions to the RED line include:
