Fujifilm shows 2008 digicam lineup

Fujifilm Canada makes interesting point-and-shoot cameras stuffed with interesting technology and this year’s lineup tries to offer something for everyone
The ultra-thin Z-Series is high on style and functionality and the FinePix Z20fd steps in to replace the Z10 of last year. The company wraps up the features in the 10 megapixel unit as face it (face detection technology), beam it (wireless image transfer), blog it (automatic resizing to web-friendly dimensions) and roll it (MPEG-4 movie mode). The Z20fd has a 3x optical zoom lens and a generous 2.5-inch LCD display for composing and reviewing. This model comes with 45MB of internal memory but also sports a dual media slot that will accept either xD and SD/SDHC cards. If colour is part of your fashion sense, you’ll be happy to know the Z20fd is available in Jet Black, Wasabi Green, Hot Pink, Cherry Red and Ice Blue. Also introduced is the Z100fd. This is an eight megapixel model with a 5x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD and a feature set similar to the Z20fd.
The S-Series is aimed at advanced shooters that want an SLR style camera but are willing to give up some key features like interchangeable lenses and an optical viewfinder. Fujifilm has ramped up this category with three new models: the FinePix S100fs, FinePix S1000fd and FinePix S8100fd. Fujifilm claims the S1000fd is the world’s smallest camera with a 12x optical zoom lens. For even greater reach the FinePix S8100fd has an 18x optical zoom.
The F-Series represents Fujifilm’s interpretation of compact performance. The FinePix F100fd uses Fujifilm’s unique SuperCCD-HR image sensor that borrows technology from its SLR big brother, the Fuji S5Pro to deliver high dynamic range. Low light sensitivity is also noteworthy, going as high as ISO 12800. Mechanical image stabilization is accomplished using sensor-shift technology.
