If you're deep into digital photography and you want to get up close and personal with the latest digital equipment, Adobe's Photoshop CS4 has the newest features that will keep you occupied for the next while.
Martin Evening, who is the author of the how-to guide on Adobe Photoshop CS4, discusses his latest book release along with some new features of CS4.
“The new Camera Raw has all the new tools that were featured in Lightroom Two, allowing you to work more smoothly between the two programs,” said Evening. “Colour Range employs a more sophisticated colour selection algorithm and now allows you to generate colour-based masks more easily.”
As a professional photographer, imaging consultant, and alpha tester for Photoshop, he has more than enough experience to fill a book.
“There is also a new Content-Aware scaling feature that allows you to resize images without distorting the shape of important components within a picture,” Evening said.
Along with these new add-on components, Bridge has been given a facelift.
“Among the most significant changes is the task-based workspace menu that makes it easier for you to switch between different Bridge workspace settings,” said Evening.
“You can now click with the spacebar to toggle displaying a full-screen preview of a selected photo.”
Evening explains that his book, Adobe Photoshop for Photographers, will be about the same length as previous editions and will mainly focus on the essentials of image editing in Photoshop and all the new features in it and Bridge CS4.
A joint project is in the works for Evening to work with another author and professional photographer, Jeff Schewe.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Photographers: The Ultimate Workshop will let readers gain more in-depth expertise about how to use Photoshop, written by Schewe and Evening, both experts in digital imaging and editing techniques.
